چکیده
Abstract Aim Appendix neoplasms are rare. Half neuroendocrine tumours (NET). Incidence of NET is 0.4 per hundred thousand and low-grade appendix mucinous neoplasm (LAMN) 0.2-0.3 thousand. Most diagnosed incidentally on appendicectomy specimens. The aim this study was to ascertain the incidence managed in a tertiary referral centre compliance with international guidelines. Method A prospectively maintained gastrointestinal oncology database interrogated over six-year period (July 2016-July 2022). Histologically confirmed primary were included. Data collected included patient demographics, clinical presentation, management follow up (median 38 months). Histopathological staging according AJCC 8th edition. Institutional review board permission not required. Results 1.3% (16/1259). These 8 NET, 5 LAMNs, 2 invasive adenocarcinoma 1 adenocarcinoid. majority definitive appendicectomy. One underwent right hemicolectomy following discussion at tumour meeting. Four patients enrolled surveillance programme. further four LAMN only one had partial caecectomy. Surveillance deemed necessary any cases. Conclusions our comparable that reported larger series (2%). All cases discussed Management all keeping current While most adequate margin clearance appendectomy alone, small number required surgery and/or surveillance.

Neoplasms of the Appendix
Appendiceal cancers are found in less than 1% of appendectomy specimens. A population-based study from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results program (SEER), from 1973 to 1998, reported the incidence of cancer of the appendix was 0.12 cases per 100,000 people per year and that the most common histology was mucinous adenocarcinoma. Neoplasms of the appendix are not often suspected before...

The day before surgery the patients were sent ...
متن کاملThe Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the C-reactive Protein Gene: are they Biomarkers of Cardiovascular Risk?
Recent pre-clinical and clinical studies have revealed the C-reactive protein gene (CRP) is related to the degree of acute rise in plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) levels. Moreover, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the CRP gene could associate with increased risk of cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, obstructive pulmonary disease,...
